The UK Friends support the Anglican Centre in the UK, organising events, services, visits, and parties to celebrate and advertise the work of the Anglican Centre around the country.
In June 2016 we held a celebratory evensong at Westminster Abbey to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Centre, with over 1,400 people attending and in January 2017, the Archbishop of Canterbury hosted a reception for the Anglican Centre with His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales at Lambeth Palace.
You are warmly invited to this event, which is held by kind permission of the Dean and Chapter of Westminster, for whose support we are immensely grateful. The Eucharist will be celebrated at 6.15pm by the Dean of Westminster, after which there will be a short reception before the lecture begins at 7.15pm. The Abbey Choir will sing Choral Evensong at 5.00pm, at which we will also be most welcome.
Our Lecture will be given jointly by Archbishop Bernard Ntahoturi, the new Director of the Anglican Centre, and Fr Tony Currer, of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of Christian Unity in Rome. This will be the first opportunity to hear from Archbishop Bernard in the UK after his inauguration in Rome at the end of October. Fr Tony runs the Anglican desk at the Pontifical Council, and is the Roman Catholic co-Secretary of ARCIC. It will be a joy to welcome them both, and a particular honour to hear from Archbishop Bernard so early in his Directorship.
There is no charge for this event, but please do let our Membership Services Officer know that you would like to attend so that she can send you a ticket.
