Friends of the Anglican Centre

The UK Friends support the Anglican Centre in the UK, organising events, services, visits, and parties to celebrate and advertise the work of the Anglican Centre around the country.

In June 2016 we held a celebratory evensong at Westminster Abbey to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Centre, with over 1,400 people attending and in January 2017, the Archbishop of Canterbury hosted a reception for the Anglican Centre with His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales at Lambeth Palace.

Foxhill, Chester Diocesan Retreat House, is hosting a day with the Reverend Canon Jane Brooke Diocesan Representative for Anglicans and Catholics to hear and air their views. It is hoped that ARCIC III will also be discussed. The Bishop of Chester will be in the chair and the guest speaker will be Dom Henry Wansborough OSB from Ampleforth Abbey.

Please note the date and details will be available from Foxhill.

The Reverend John Bennett Diocesan Representative for Leeds is planning, with the small support group established in the Diocese, a day to examine our shared Christian appreciation of the Northern Saints. It is hoped to hold the event in Knaresborough in June or July as this year marks the 800th Anniversary of the death of St Robert of Knaresborough, hermit. Born in about 1160 he died on 24 September 1218 which is now his day of commemoration. Full details will be circulated in due course. To register an interest or to obtain more details please contact Fr Bennett at
