ROME SUMMER SCHOOL: IN THE STEPS OF ST AUGUSTINE A FEW REMAINING PLACES
Monday 17 – Sunday 23 June 2013
Participants are invited to undertake a journey to the heart of early Christianity in Rome and from there on a ‘virtual’ pilgrimage to Canterbury in the footsteps of St Augustine. What happened to Christianity in that Anglo-Saxon culture and its spread beyond? Perceptions of distance and closeness, separation and unity will also be explored through debate on the current ecumenical experience.
The course is aimed at those likely to be in positions of leadership and influence in the Anglican Communion and all who wish to explore Augustine’s journey and where it led.
The leader of the course will be the Revd Dr Anders Bergquist, Vicar of St John's Wood, London, a member pof the Church of England's Liturgical Commission and a popular lecturer on Swan Hellenic cruises.
