Growing Together in Unity

In many places, Churches plan together, share ministry together, pray and study together.

Milton Keynes:
Christ the Cornerstone, which began in 1980, was the first ecumenical city centre church in the UK. There are covenants bringing together Baptist Union, Church of England, Methodist Church, Roman Catholic Church and URC in a partnership that was an important advance for ecumenism in the UK.

At the church’s dedication in 1992 Cardinal Basil Hume was the first Roman Catholic to preach before a reigning monarch since the Reformation.

Churches Together in Radlett and Aldenham:
The churches share a number of ventures – ministers’ fraternal prayers (weekly), ecumenical carol service, annual civic service, act of Remembrance in November (with local synagogues also involved), Good Friday witness service, Holy Week programme, film nights and Lent/Advent addresses and quiet days. They also run a shared stall at the Radlett Festival fair, have occasional shared worship services and seek when appropriate to do other things together. There are a number of house groups which though run by members of one of the churches are attended also by others.
